We serve as your trusted waypoint for certified Illinois Concealed Carry education—preparing you with the skills, mindset, and readiness for every contingency. A waypoint exists so no one navigates the unknown alone. We walk with you through every step, until the worry of what might happen gives way to the calm of being ready.

Training Offered
Whether you're applying for your first Illinois license, renewing the one you have, or thinking about home defense, there's a course built for where you are.
The full state-required course to apply for an Illinois Concealed Carry License: firearm safety, marksmanship, Illinois and federal law, lawful interaction with police, and range qualification.
The refresher for current license holders renewing their Illinois CCL — a law and safety review with a live-fire re-qualification.
A standalone course on protecting your home and family: planning, safe firearm handling for defense, and the responsibilities that come with it.
Course descriptions are summaries of what each class covers — not legal advice, and not reproductions of any curriculum. Active-duty, retired, and honorably discharged service members, and applicants with approved prior training, may qualify for up to 8 hours of credit toward the 16-hour course (430 ILCS 66/75). Dates, locations, and tuition are being finalized now.

Outpost Actual is led by Douglas Lytle, an ISP-certified and USCCA-authorized instructor with more than 16 years of firearms experience. Trained and mentored by leading professionals in the field, Doug has studied a wide range of disciplines, including force-on-force, tactical pistol and rifle, practical rifle, 2-Gun, and advanced shooting fundamentals. Driven by a passion for knowledge, safety, and every person's right to protect themselves, Doug brings professional-level skill to everyday citizens. His approach is personal: fewer students, focused attention, and deliberate instruction.
I've trained in some of the most demanding disciplines the industry has to offer, and I'm excited to share what I've learned with you in a structured, safe environment.
